Team Australian Detailing Services (ADS) are pleased to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2022 Autumn!! Ryan and Sam have been mates since school and are both passionate about cars and giving back to the community! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Wollongong to Mackay via Innamincka for a total of 3594km's. Over the course of a week, we shall find out if our beloved POS will make it through this adventure!
After a long search for a worthy shit box which wasn’t covid taxed out the wazoo, we bought our beautiful 2000 Ford Festiva Trio! This 1.5L hot hatch represents the pinnacle of vehicle design and engineering, boasting a massive 47kW (22 years ago) and a 0-100 of god I hope so. Smelling how you’d expect it to, with a broken radio and each gear feeling like a neutral, it is ready to rally.... maybe.
Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia. All the teams are required to raise a minimum of $5000 but we hope to go well above that even though we are late to the party!
These funds go to the Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated.
Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
